This is an interesting book, focusing mostly on the islands that the British Admiralty removed from their maps in the 19th century It focuses on the second age of exploration, the 1700 s 1800 s, and discusses the exploits of great fabricators of discoveries such as Benjamin Morrell, called the greatest liar in the Pacific While at times entertaining, it is largely a book about the Admiralty cleaning up previous messes, and what happens when one has to deal with 300 year old estimated longitudinal estimates.
